Teresa and I go into Anchorage a day earlly, spend the night near the Train Terminal. We take the train from Anchorage to Port. We haven't taken it to Whittier yet but, just in case you want to take the scenic route, I've included a link to their site.
The Jade is due to go in to drydock for an upgrade in April. We'll have a freshly upgraded ship in August.
